THE LIFE CHURCH exists to impact culture through the innovative presentation of Christianity. With a focus on creativity and compassion we are driven by introducing Christ's message to the world.
Based on the words spoken by Jesus Christ in John 10:9-10, we believe that God desires for us to have a fulfilling life in every way. We are committed to transforming lives in the Greater Richmond community and abroad by sharing the “life-giving” Love of God and empowering people to live the life God desires for them!
We strive to build a community of believers who “live the LIFE”:
L: LOVE all people into a life of hope and fulfillment.
I: Re-establishing the IDENTITY of the church within culture and community.
F: To live a life of FAITH in action
E: EMPOWERMENT through the E3 PROGRAM: Empowering people with lifeskill development that impacts their HOLISTIC BEING as a believer through Education, Entrepreneurship, Exposure
What We believe
GOD is the Creator of the universe. Eternally existing as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The three are all a reflection of one God, manifested in three ways.
JESUS is the son of God. He lived to exemplify to us the power and fruit of Christian living. He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death, and to give us access to eternal life in Heaven.
THE HOLY SPIRIT is a gift to all believers of God within us. Providing Christians with the power for living a righteous life, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. As believers we invite The Holy Spirit into every decision, conversation, and action of our lives so that the God in us can guide who we are, what we do, and how we live.
THE BIBLE is the inspired word of God, written by human authors. We believe all that it contains is a guide to Christian living and spiritual understanding of God. While we do strongly affirm the bible’s teaching, we do acknowledge that there can be varied interpretations on particular passages. However these two principles guide our biblical conversations: Where the bible is without clarity we ask for the THE HOLY SPIRIT to guide our thoughts, ideals, questions, and our being. While we believe the bible contains room for varied interpretations on some theological debates, we have no doubt that the bible leads us to understanding and drawing closer to a PERFECT GOD.
SALVATION is God’s gift to us, freely given by Jesus’ sacrifice. We believe GRACE covers believers in all of our sin, something we can never do by our own self-improvement or good works.
Salvation is a process by which one must:
- Believe in Jesus Christ as God's son and the redeemer of mankind.
- Accept Jesus not only as our savior but also allow THE HOLY SPIRIT to lead our daily lives.
- Give of ourselves to the restoration and redemption of others
BAPTISM is the outward expression of an inward commitment to Christ. It is how believers celebrate and publicize their salvation and new found life in God.
We stand strongly against acts of judgment and condemnation. Believing that God has called us most importantly to the acts of FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE!
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters… Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls… So then each of us will give an account of himself to God… So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” - Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22
